Meet Sarah

Hi, I’m Sarah, founder of The Soul Reformer Club.

I opened my first Reformer Pilates studio at 63 - although my love affair with fitness began more than 40 years ago.

My life and career haven’t exactly followed a straight line. I’ve reinvented myself several times along the way - from 1980s aerobics in Covent Garden, teaching fitness in Paris and Geneva and introducing Step classes to Switzerland, to spending almost 17 years running the Karen Millen franchise in Switzerland. There were two children to raise along the way, several countries, a few major life changes and rather a lot of Lycra.

Around 15 years ago, my daughter persuaded me to try Reformer Pilates at Heartcore on the King’s Road. “Mummy, you’ll love it.” She was right. I loved it so much that I bought my own Reformer and had it shipped to Switzerland.

What began as a fantastic workout eventually became something much more important. Through some of the biggest changes and hardest periods of my life, movement - and particularly Reformer Pilates - helped keep me physically and mentally strong.

Years later, after returning to England and eventually settling in Kent, I found myself wondering:

Where on earth am I going to do my Reformer classes?

The entrepreneurial part of my brain had an answer.

Why don’t I open my own studio?

So, in my sixties, more than 35 years after my first fitness qualification, I went back to studying.

And in January 2026, at 63, I opened The Soul Reformer Club. Eight Reformers. A beautiful little studio in the Kent countryside. And another new beginning. I wanted Soul to be somewhere I would want to go myself - beautiful but relaxed, small enough to be personal and, above all, somewhere nobody feels they’re too old, too unfit or too inexperienced to belong.

At 63, I’m not exercising because I’m desperately trying to look 30. I had my chance at 30. It was fun.

Now I want to be strong, fit and mobile. I want to travel, play with my grandchildren and keep doing the things I love for as long as possible. And that’s what I want for the people who come to Soul too.

Because you don’t have to be fit before you start.

You don’t have to know what you’re doing.

And you definitely don’t have to be able to touch your toes.
